Schenker Germany Relies on SLOT System in Rostock
Schenker Deutschland AG recently launched the SLOT system from Cargoclix in its rented cargo handling centre “Baltic Sea Gate” in the port of Rostock. Transports to and from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia are handled via the “Baltic Sea Gate” facility. At three ramps of the 11,000 square metre logistics centre, trucks are handled with the help of the SLOT tool without congestion. The time slots can be booked up to one month in advance. Even twelve hours before the planned check-in date, bookings are still possible. Each booking costs 50 cents.
Schenker Aktiengesellschaft, based in Essen, is an internationally active logistics service provider. Schenker is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG and, alongside DB Cargo, is part of the “Transport and Logistics” division. In addition to the official company name Schenker AG, the brand name DB Schenker is particularly familiar. In the meantime, the Schenker brand name has also been adopted for Deutsche Bahn’s rail freight traffic, which is now operating under the name DB Cargo again. The more than 75,800 employees generated a turnover of 17.05 billion euros in 2018.
