YFood optimizes ramp processes with SLOT timeslot management system by Cargoclix

(Freiburg i.Br., 6.11.2020) The start-up company YFood with headquarters in Munich relies on the SLOT time window management system by Cargoclix at its logistics location in Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. With the introduction of the cloud-based software of the Freiburg IT specialist, the food manufacturer of so-called Complete Food has succeeded in reducing the waiting times for trucks at the ramp for loading and unloading to almost zero. Previously, according to the company, this had taken up to several hours. “Now the trucks can usually be registered directly at the ramp without any further delays,” says Logistics Manager Felix Schreil. One of the reasons why YFood chose SLOT was that many carriers and suppliers were already familiar with the system and therefore the introduction and integration could be implemented without major hurdles. “For us, a time slot management system was the logical consequence of the constantly growing turnover of goods at the ramp and was accepted 100 percent by all suppliers,” emphasizes Schreil. Costs of 50 cents are incurred per booked time slot. For the time being, YFood will bear these costs itself in order to maintain an overview of usage. Logistics service providers can book the time slots with YFood with a lead time of two weeks. Short-term bookings are possible until 4 pm the day before. The use of SLOT has several advantages for YFood: “We make optimum use of our capacities, avoid downtimes and demurrage charges and have a clear structure in the order in which the trucks arrive,” Schreil explains. The company, which among other things produces mobile meals in the form of drinks, bars and powders, sees the use of a time slot management system as an investment in the future. “Especially as a start-up, you have to think today about the business of the day after tomorrow,” continues Schreil. With the introduction, YFood has taken the opportunity to adapt the goods management system at the ramp to the growth of the company. “This gives us the time to understand, analyze and optimize the associated processes accordingly”. At YFood Cargoclix SLOT has been in use since 1 July 2020. Since then the arrival of unannounced trucks has been the exception. The company handles four to five trucks per day.
