Humbaur reduces waiting times for truck drivers with SLOT

(Freiburg i.Br., July 2, 2021) Commercial vehicle manufacturer Humbaur, one of the world’s largest producers of trailers and vehicle bodies, has introduced the SLOT timeslot management system from Cargoclix at its headquarters in Gersthofen near Augsburg. For several weeks now, the cloud-based solution from the Freiburg-based system house has been supporting the congestion-free dispatch of around 28 trucks in the outgoing goods department there every day. “The system has been well received by almost all freight forwarders,” reports Haiko Huber, team leader for dispatch scheduling at Humbaur GmbH. “The solution has enabled us to ensure better distribution of trucks at our five loading bays – especially when much many of them arrive for loading,” he continues. 

There is no fixed date when the booking period for time slots begins. Humbaur also makes short-term bookings possible for its logistics service providers, as long as they are made by 3 p.m. the day before. This advance notice gives the company the opportunity to plan the following day as precisely as possible and also to allocate personnel accordingly. There is a charge of 50 cents for booking a time slot. These costs are borne by the freight forwarders, who in return benefit from fast and prompt handling. 

The fact that truck drivers will hardly have to wait in the future has already been demonstrated in the first weeks of using SLOT. “The standing times for drivers have been extremely reduced,” Huber cites. However, he believes the advantages of the system lie not only in its ability to better distribute trucks over time, but also in its graphical clarity. “This allows us to see exactly which truck is coming when and which vehicles are currently in the loading process,” he explains.

The “Cargoclix SLOT” software for optimizing processes has a modular structure and can be individually adapted to the needs of each company. The system currently has around 65,000 users in Germany and Europe.
